Halfway Crooks | Brevet Pils

This is a beer I am very excited about. Brewed within walking distance of my house by Halfway Crooks, one of my favorite spots for beer, food, atmosphere, and yes, their merch (I’m in one of their shirts or hats at least once a week). They’re best known for their European-style lagers and pilsners, so this one came with high expectations. Imagine my excitement when they decided to can an NA version for distribution.

Vibe Check:
This is one crispy boy that keeps its ABV a secret. It’s one of the few pilsners I’ve had that made me stop and wonder if it was really below 0.5%, in the best way possible.

What You’re Getting:
As the brewers describe, you’ll pick up aromas of subtle fennel, oyster crackers, lemon, and a bit of tangerine. I agree with most of that, not sure I totally catch the oyster cracker part, but I get where they’re coming from. The yeast character is clean and classic, and it all just works.

How We’d Drink It:
Cold. Like, really cold. Bonus points for a chilled glass. This is an anytime pilsner. Sitting on the porch, at the pub, tailgate, whatever. Especially if you love the style as much as I do.
