Athletic Brewing | Free Wave Hazy IPA
I’ve always had a love-hate thing with IPAs. At this point in the game, most of them are too heavy, great for the first few sips, but by the time you’re halfway through, you’re wondering why it feels like a meal. However, Free Wave feels like a Tropicalia lite, just a fantastic staple to keep on hand.
Vibe Check:Athletic’s Hazy IPA is my must stock NA IPA. A light, crisp, genuinely refreshing take on a hazy that somehow still feels complete.
What You’re Getting: A bright, aromatic hazy IPA that keeps the hop character but dials back the weight. You get the soft citrus and subtle tropical notes you’d expect, but it drinks way cleaner than most in the category. At 70 calories, it’s more “crushable craft” than “commitment beer.”
How We’d Drink It: Cold can, porch weather, or on a ski lift. It’s the perfect middle ground between flavor and drinkability.
